[C.S.F]
The following antimicrobial agents should not be used for infection of bacteria isolated from the CSF
1- 1st and 2nd generation cephalosporin (except Cefuroxime sodium)
2- Clindamycin
3- Macrolides
4- Tetracycline
5- Fluoroquinolone
Only results of Penicillin, Vancomycin , and Cefotaxime or Ceftriaxone or Meropenem should be reported for Streptococcus pneumonia isolated from cerebrospinal fluid.
Also for Haemophilus infleunzae only result of Ampicillin , one of the third – generation cephalosporin [Cefotaxime or Ceftriaxone or Ceftazidime] , Chloramphenicol and Meropenem should be reported.
Therefore Cefotaxime and Ceftriaxone should be tested and reported on isolates from C.S.F
